Default Hoi An Travel Information

With truly fine sand, the beach is wide and spectacular. The normally placid waters are ideal for jet skiing. In recent years the waters off the shores of nearby Cham Islands have begun to welcome scuba divers. With 18 dive sites and only two companies operating dives, hoi An offers exclusivity. There is no danger of bumping into another boatload of divers here. With visibility of around 20 to 30 metres and sea temperatures around 30C, over the last couple of years Hoi An is thought by some as being better for diving than Nha Trang. With soft corals from 2 to 14 metres and a maximem depth of 28 metres, Signal Point is one of the best dive sites in Vietnam.

With the advent of mass tourism, there has been an explosion of restaurants in the ancient town. White Rose is Hoi An’s culinary speciality and the restaurant of the same name on Hai Ba Trung street is a good place to try it out. Alternatively, the restaurants on Hn Hoi Peninsula, such as Mango mango and Salsa are good options, as is the Screte Garderntucked down a small alley in the heart of the ancient town; However, there is nothing quite like the atmosphere of dining by the river. Both the restaurant at Life Resort Hoi An and Red Brigde Restaurant provide a great riverside setting for a meal. Hoi An is also a popular place to learn how to cook Vietnamese food. Although replicated throghout the country, Hai’s Café on Nguyen Thai Hoc Street was one of the origina places to offer cookery classes, and is still one of the best.

There is not much to do late at night in Hoi An, although a beach club has opened up on Cua Dai Beach offering a late night beach party outlet. For thosewho really want to rave, it’s beast to head to neighbouring Danang, or save it all up for Nha Trang, the party city of the coast.

Despite being Vietnam’s fourth largest city, Danang is largely overlooked by tourists, who tend to head straight for Hoi An. With the advent of a chain of international each resorts opening up right on Danang’s doorstep, this is likely to change

In addition to faving some of the besst seafood in the whole country, Danang has one of its more interesting museums. The Museums of Cham Sculpture has the finest collection of Cham remains, dating back to the 7th century. Well worth a visit, the museum gives an invaluable insight into the various cultures that have left their mark on this part of the country. Impossible to miss on the way towads Hoi An, the Marble Mountains make for an interesting stop-off or excursion from either city
